However, there's a significant difference between stable prices and sharp increases late in a standard's life. "A substantial late-cycle hike unsupported by portfolio strength, remaining patent life, or comparable licenses is more prone to FRAND scrutiny," he noted. Whether Via's new model meets this standard would necessitate access to the full patent list, a technical review of remaining claims, and a comparison with market norms, none of which can be done solely with public data.
